Research Shows COVID-19 Immunity Lasts at Least 6 Months
A University of Oxford study of British healthcare workers found that re-infection with SARS-CoV-2 is unlikely for at least 6 months post-infection. Study authors suggest that most people who recover from COVID-19 will not be re-infected, at least not right away, which is good news for the more than 50 million people around the world who have contracted the virus. The study looked at more than 12,000 British healthcare personnel on the frontlines of treating COVID-19 patients from April to November. Of 11,052 clinicians without antibodies, 89 developed a new symptomatic infection, but none of the 1,246 staff members with antibodies came down with a new symptomatic infection. Read more here.
