US Marks Devastating Loss of 200,000 Lives Due to COVID-19
Tragically, more than than 200,000 Americans have died due to COVID-19. The president of the American Medical Association, Susan R. Bailey, MD, highlighted the devastation brought on by the pandemic by remembering the sadness of those unable to be with loved ones as they passed, the plight of older adults and those living with chronic conditions as they endure the loneliness required to ensure their safety, and the significant impact experienced by Black, Latinx, and Native American communities. Bailey advises Americans to adhere to those strategies that continue to show efficacy in preventing COVID-19:
- Receive a flu immunization.
- Wear a mask when outside your home.
- Stay 6 feet away from others.
- Avoid large gatherings, particularly if held indoors.
