Steroids Make a Difference in Patients With Severe COVID-19 Symptoms
The use of systemic corticosteroids may significantly decrease mortality among those critically ill with COVID-19, according to a meta-analysis published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on September 2. The study found that those who received a steroid regimen were 34% less likely to die than those who received a placebo or typical treatment over the course of 28 days. The results led the World Health Organization to issue a statement supporting corticosteroid therapy as a treatment for patients with “severe and critical COVID-19.” Read more here.
