Pharmaceutical Companies Join Forces to Find COVID-19 Treatment
Three pharmaceutical companies have partnered in clinical trials to test drugs from each manufacturer to see whether they may help patients with COVID-19. AbbVie Inc, Amgen Inc, and Takeda are part of a broader coalition—COVID Research & Development Alliance—that also includes the Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative and United States Food and Drug Administration. The partnership is testing a human immunodeficiency virus drug from AbbVie, a psoriasis medication from Amgen, and an injection used to address hereditary angioedema by Takeda. The hope is that these agents may address the overactive inflammatory response caused by COVID-19. Results of the trials may be available within 6 weeks. Read more here.
