Determining Who Will Be First In Line for a COVID-19 Vaccine
With the COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of abating in the United States and while pharmaceutical companies hustle to develop a safe and effective vaccine, considering how such a vaccine will be distributed is prudent. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has suggested that healthcare professionals followed by people with comorbidities and then older adults will be the first to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. The organization has yet to decide who would be up next, but officials may consider Black and Latino populations, as these groups have been hit the hardest. Public health officials are also considering a weighted lottery in which everyone has access but some groups would receive preference. Read more here.
