Good News: Novel Coronavirus Is Not Spread by Mosquitoes
An experimental investigation conducted at Kansas State University’s Biosecurity Research Institute found that SARS-CoV-2 is unable to replicate in three common types of mosquitoes, making it impossible for them to transmit the virus to humans. Researchers discovered that the novel coronavirus failed to reproduce within the Aedes aegypti, Ae. Albopictus, and Culex quinquefasciatus species of mosquitoes, even when mosquitoes fed on people with the virus in their blood. This is excellent news as mosquito-born diseases kill millions of people each year across the globe. Read more here.
