Deadline to Apply for Paycheck Protection Program May Be Extended
The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which has provided loans to small businesses (some of which need not be paid back) to help weather the COVID-19 pandemic, still has $130 billion of unspent funds. The deadline to apply for those funds was June 30. However, the Senate has unanimously approved legislation to extend the deadline to August 8 in order to get more loan money into the hands of small businesses that are still struggling, as the United States moves into the fourth month of the pandemic facing rising case numbers across the country.
The legislation is now in the House waiting for a vote. Many dentists have sought relief from the PPP after closing except for emergency care and reduced patient loads upon reopening. Click here to read more.
