California’s Second Shutdown Spares Dental Practices
In response to a surge in new COVID-19 cases, California Governor Gavin Newsom has implemented a second shutdown of the state. On July 13, Newsom ordered the closure of bars, indoor restaurants, movie theaters, and wineries in all 58 counties, and the closure of gyms, churches, offices, hair salons, and indoor malls in the 29 most populous counties across the state. However, the new restrictions are not applicable to dental practices or other healthcare providers. The California Dental Association recommends that dental practices keep at least 2 weeks of personal protective equipment on hand and follow the guidelines stipulated by the California Department of Public Health for the safe practice of dentistry.
