There is no doubt that COVID-19 has drastically impacted the practice and business of dentistry. With much uncertainty about when dental practices will be able to open and what that will look like, the American Dental Association (ADA) Health Policy Institute has released some projections based on historic information from the Great Recession (2007-2009) and its own data collection. First,  the ADA predicts that dental spending will decrease by 66% in 2020 and 32% in 2021. Four different scenarios of dental practice economic recovery are presented that align with projections of the overall economic recovery, with the most hopeful being a full recovery of the United States and dental economies by January 2021.
