After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe the prevalence of cardiovascular disease and stroke in the U.S. population — and the health consequences of these conditions.
  2. Explain the impact of international normalized ratio testing on treatment planning, as well as the new guidelines for hypertension and their bearing on elective procedures.
  3. List oral health care strategies for treating patients who have experienced cardiovascular disease or stroke.
