University of California, San Francisco Dental Alumni Earn Recognition
Peter Milgrom, DDS, a professor of oral health sciences and pediatric dentistry at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and an adjunct professor in the School of Public Health, is among the winners of the 2020 University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Campaign Alumni Awards, named by the alumni association.
Peter Milgrom, DDS, a professor of oral health sciences and pediatric dentistry at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and an adjunct professor in the School of Public Health, is among the winners of the 2020 University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Campaign Alumni Awards, named by the alumni association. Milgrom ‘72, and Avelino Silva, DDS, ‘79, are among the UCSF dentistry alumni to be honored.
Winners were selected based on their distinguished service in research and education, transforming care delivery, or improving access to advance health equity. Milgrom topped the Innovators category for his pioneering work with silver diamine fluoride to arrest dental caries. Silva was honored in The Dedicated category in recognition of his 37 years of service as an UCSF clinic director, faculty member and admissions evaluator.
Carmen Hipona, DDS, ‘96, is the 2020 Medal of Honor winner, named by the UCSF Dental Alumni Association. This honor is given in recognition of exceptional dedication, service and contributions in roles related to community service, the alumni association, UCSF School of Dentistry, and the overall profession.
