A special publication produced through a collaboration between Colgate- Palmolive and Scientific American Custom Media examines changes to the practice of dentistry, as well as the impact of oral disease on systemic health. Intended to broaden our understanding of the current and future state of oral health care, The Future of Oral Health explores science, policy and new delivery models.
Among topics addressed are the oral health of the growing population of older adults, new diagnostic tools, and philosophies and technologies that have fueled industry changes. The publication, available for download at scientificamerican.com/products/the-future-of-oral-health, includes updates on the science linking oral health with other areas of medicine, and changes in the relationships between the dental and medical communities as they slowly de-silo.
“Solutions in oral health care must address evolving patient needs, changing global demographics, and the ever-advancing innovation landscape that will affect delivery methods and models of care,” says Patricia D. Verduin, PhD, MBA, Colgate-Palmolive’s chief technology officer.
