Leo E. Rouse Receives Distinguished Service Award

Leo E. Rouse, DDS, FACD, dean emeritus at Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C., is the 2020 recipient of the American Dental Association’s Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor the association bestows. Rouse spent a quarter of a century in the U.S. Army as a dentist and leader before beginning his career in academia. He served as chief of the dental science division at the Army Medical Department Center and School at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, before returning to his alma mater, Howard University College of Dentistry, where he was dean from 2004 to 2015. Rouse previously served as president of the board of the American Dental Education Association, and is president-elect of the American College of Dentists.
