The newly formed American Teledentistry Association (ATDA) seeks to shape the conversation about teledentistry as a tool to increase access to care for millions of Americans. Aiming to serve as a conduit for synergy between industry, academia and end-users of teledentistry, the ATDA plans to develop guidelines that define the standard of care in teledentistry practice.
“This technology has the ability to help patients gain access to dental care, both affordably and conveniently,” says Marc Ackerman, DMD, MBA, FACD, director of orthodontics at Boston Children’s Hospital, assistant professor of developmental biology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and executive director of the ATDA. “Our mission is to modernize access to care through advocacy for the implementation of innovative teledentistry guidelines and solutions.”
