Wake Tech Partners With ODU to Offer Degree Completion for Dental Hygienists
Graduates of Wake Tech’s Dental Hygiene Program can now pursue a bachelor’s degree online through a new articulation agreement with Old Dominion University.
Graduates of the Dental Hygiene Program at the community college Wake Tech in Raleigh, North Carolina, have a new opportunity to advance their careers, thanks to an articulation agreement with Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia. This new partnership allows students to earn a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene online, expanding their professional options in areas including teaching, research, and public health. Students with at least 24 credit hours can transfer their credits and begin coursework at ODU, which also offers an online master’s program.
Across the United States, more than 55 bachelor’s degree completion programs are available for dental hygienists, which build on the foundational knowledge gained through an associate’s degree. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree opens doors to advanced roles, including positions in academia, marketing, and dental hygiene management, while enhancing clinical skills and boosting career flexibility.
Wake Tech’s current Dental Hygiene Program is accredited by the American Dental Association and the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and all 19 graduates in May 2024 passed their National Board Dental Hygiene Exam on the first try. With 44 students currently enrolled, this new university transfer option ensures they can continue their education seamlessly.
Students enrolled in the program will have access to ODU’s student support services, scholarships, and payment plans to help manage tuition. Click here to read more.
