Illinois Takes Action Against the Dangers of Fake Dentists
The State of Illinois has launched a public safety campaign, “Fake Dentist, Real Risk,” following a shocking report on unlicensed dental practitioners. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the serious risks posed by fake oral health professionals and prevent further harm to unsuspecting patients.
After CBS News Chicago exposed the troubling case of an unlicensed individual posing as a dentist, the State of Illinois has announced a proactive public awareness campaign titled “Fake Dentist, Real Risk.” This campaign aims to educate the public on the dangers of unlicensed dentistry and how to identify and avoid fake practitioners.
The fake dentist was arrested earlier this year after patients reported severe dental issues, including chipped teeth and fake braces, following treatments at the Schaumburg-based business. Some victims are still suffering from ongoing complications months after receiving bogus dental procedures.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, alongside the Illinois State Dental Society, is committed to preventing similar incidents by raising awareness and enhancing monitoring systems for unlicensed dental practices. Victims of fake dentistry have continued to come forward, reinforcing the importance of the campaign. The state aims to track and address these cases more effectively, ensuring that unlicensed practitioners are stopped before more patients are harmed. Click here to read more.
