South Dakota Opens Application Period for Student Loan Repayment Program

The South Dakota Department of Health will open the 2023 application period for the State Loan Repayment Program on October 2. This initiative is designed to attract those interested in providing dental and medical care to underserved communities to the state. Qualified healthcare professionals are eligible for student loan reimbursement as long as they commit to serving 2 years in a health professional shortage area of which South Dakota has 104. Dentists and dental hygienists are eligible for the program. Last year the program paid the student loans of 14 participants, most of whom were mental health clinicians. Click here to read more.
