Boston University Furthers Innovation in Oral Health With Generous Award
Boston University (BU) Technology Development’s Ignition Awards, designed to propel groundbreaking science and technology forward, have unveiled their 2023 recipients, and one researcher is poised to revolutionize oral health. Yuwei Fan, PhD, a research associate professor of restorative sciences and biomaterials at BU’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, has unveiled a pioneering technique aimed at restoring tooth enamel. His process hinges on a unique formula engineered to deposit enamel-like materials directly onto the surface of damaged teeth. Through laboratory testing, conducted under conditions mimicking the complex environment of the human mouth, Fan has already demonstrated the feasibility of this groundbreaking approach. Now, with the backing of the Ignition Award, he is poised to transition his innovative concept from the laboratory bench to clinical trials. Click here to read more.
