New York Introduces Dental Therapy Bill
More than half of New York state’s population — 9 million people — are covered by public health insurance programs, such as Medicaid, and they are struggling to access dental care. As such lawmakers recently introduced legislation to create dental therapists (DTs) and advanced dental therapists (ADTs) through a dental hygienist-based model that is very similar to the longstanding DTs and ADTS who serve at-risk populations in Minnesota.
