Improving Our Understanding of Gingival Inflammation

0

The University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle has received a $2.7 million grant to study the three types of inflammatory responses generated by exposure to dental plaque. Through an improved understanding of these responses, researchers hope to create more effective prevention and treatment methods. The grant, funded by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, will help the team of periodontists, microbiologists, and immunologists further the understanding of the three types of responses to plaque: slow response, low response, and high response. Researchers hope the insights gained will shed light on inflammation in other parts of the body as well. Click here to read more.
