Is a ‘Tripledemic’ on the Way?
As temperatures drop across the United States and people begin spending more time indoors, public health experts have expressed concern about a “tripledemic,” a trifecta of rising flu, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases. The number of children with RSV who require hospitalization is much higher than in years past. While COVID-19 cases have continued declining, flu levels are expected to increase dramatically this winter, especially since immunity levels are low due to reduced exposure to the influenza viruses during the pandemic.
