Dental Assistant Who Resigned Due to Safety Issues Receives Unemployment Benefits

A dental assistant who had been working in an Iowa dental practice since 2017 quit due to the practice’s refusal to address safety concerns. A judge recently ruled that the dental assistant is eligible for unemployment benefits because she had good reason to resign from her position. The assistant testified that she brought up concerns about the safety of the dental unit waterlines as well as problems with the building’s maintenance, which was so poor that mold was growing on the walls.
