DIY Veneers May Wreak Havoc on Patients’ Oral Health and Wallets


As many Americans’ budgets are tight, much less expensive alternatives to professional dental care have been gaining traction on social media. A woman in North Texas learned the hard way how wrong do-it-yourself (DIY) dentistry can go. She purchased at-home veneers for less than $30 and applied them herself. Things went terribly awry with the application, and she ended up seeking care from a cosmetic dentist who had to grind the kit’s gel off her natural dentition, causing pain and the loss of some natural tooth surface.
