COVID-19’s Effect on the Economy Is Easing, Experts Suggest
In February 2022, the United States posted big gains in employment growth with the addition of 678,000 jobs. Unemployment dropped to 3.8% from 4% in January 2022, and economists suggest that the pandemic’s negative hold on the economy may be shrinking. The big jump in job growth is the most significant since July 2021 and occurred in light of skyrocketing inflation. Experts, however, note that these numbers were released before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which may also have deleterious effects on the economy—not only in the US, but around the world.
