Most Americans Are No Longer Afraid of the COVID-19 Pandemic
According to a poll conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, most Americans are no longer afraid of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the number of new infections has dropped drastically, only 24% of Americans recently polled said they were extremely afraid of contracting COVID-19. Most Americans also believe SARS-CoV-2 will continue to circulate but will cease to cause serious illness. Just 15% of those polled think the novel coronavirus will be completely eliminated. State and local governments have reacted in kind by loosening pandemic-related restrictions, such as eliminating mask mandates.
