University of Oxford Professor Develops COVID-19 Risk Calculator
Julia Hippisley-Cox, MB, ChB, MD, FRCP, DRCOG, FRCGP, a professor at Oxford University in Oxford, England, has created QCovid®, a living risk calculator to assess the risk among vaccinated individuals for serious illness or death due to COVID-19. The evidence-based tool uses age, sex, ethnicity, and comorbidities to calculate risk for serious COVID-19 illness and mortality. It is designed for use in adults ages 19 and older. According to the New York Times, the data revealed by the calculator demonstrate that the risk for serious illness or death caused by COVID-19 among fully vaccinated adults is commensurate with risks posed by other diseases such as the flu.
