Supreme Court Backs COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate for Healthcare Workers but Not Large Companies
On January 13, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the White House’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare professionals may remain in place, but it struck down the mandate for companies with more than 100 employees. The vote on the mandate for healthcare professionals was close: 5 to 4, while the mandate for large companies was voted down 6 to 3. The COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare professionals includes only those facilities that receive reimbursement from the federally funded programs Medicare and Medicaid. The large-company mandate was to be enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration; the court decided this was beyond the agency’s jurisdiction. Click here to read more.
