
Federal Healthcare Workers Deployed to States Struggling to Handle Omicron Surge
The United States military is sending physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Rhode Island, Michigan, and New Mexico to support those states’ hospital systems as they face surging numbers of COVID-19 patients due to the quick transmission of the Omicron variant. They will support emergency departments so hospitals can continue to provide medical services to those needing non-COVID-19-related care.
