Inexpensive Antidepressant Medication May Reduce Severity of COVID-19
Research shows that fluvoxaminean, an inexpensive antidepressant medication, decreases the need for hospitalization among high-risk adults with COVID-19. The drug fights inflammation and is traditionally used to address depression and obsessive compulsive disorder. The Brazilian study included 1,500 subjects with COVID-19 who were at elevated risk for severe illness. Half of the subjects took fluvoxamine and the other half received a placebo. Of the participants who received the drug, 11% required hospitalization while 16% of those who received a placebo needed hospitalization. Click here to read more.
