
As COVID-19 Cases Rise, Tests Are in Short Supply
A few months ago when COVID-19 numbers were declining and any American who wanted a COVID-19 vaccination could get one, manufacturers of rapid COVID-19 tests scaled back production. Now with a surge in COVID-19 cases caused by the Delta variant and the return of in-person school, tests are in high demand but short supply. Companies, such as Abbot, Becton Dickinson, and Quidel, are now renewing efforts to produce more on-site COVID-19 tests that provide almost immediate results. Demand has risen for diagnostic tests from approximately 250,000 in July to 1.5 million in August. Click here to read more.
