
PPE Shortage Resulted in Lives Lost Among Healthcare Professionals
Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, noted that shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) contributed to the loss of more than 3,600 healthcare professionals’ lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fauci also discussed the heroic efforts of American healthcare workers in an interview with Kaiser Health News and The Guardian, which have compiled a database of medical professionals who died due to COVID-19 illness.
