
One in 10 Healthcare Providers With COVID-19 Experience Long-Term Effects
Regardless of age, health, or severity of illness, some individuals who recover from COVID-19 illness endure long-lasting effects, ranging from loss of smell/taste to fatigue to respiratory issues. New research has found that one in 10 healthcare professionals experience enduring symptoms from their initial SARS-CoV-2 infection. The Swedish study of mostly female medical professionals whose mean age was 43 found that these long-term effects negatively impacted the study subjects’ work and personal lives. Of the 323 participants who had mild COVID-19 illness, 26% noted they had one moderate or severe symptom that remained more than 2 months after the infection had resolved. Click here to read more.
