Many Countries Don’t Allow Oral Health Professionals to Administer COVID-19 Vaccines
Results of a global survey conducted by the FDI World Dental Federation show that two-thirds of countries—including Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, Denmark, Russia, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand—are not allowing dentists to administer COVID-19 vaccines. As a result, the FDI is urging countries to include dentists as COVID-19 vaccine administrators in an effort to get as many people immunized against SARS-CoV-2 as quickly as possible. In the United States, about 20 states have enabled oral health professionals to administer COVID-19 vaccines.
