The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning against using the drug ivermectin, traditionally prescribed to eradicate parasites, to prevent or treat COVID-19. The warning was issued after reports of individuals taking a version of ivermectin designed for animals and experiencing negative health outcomes—including hospitalization—as a result.

The study, which included 400 participants, found no statistically significant difference between the outcomes of patients with COVID-19 who were treated with ivermectin and those who did not receive the drug.
