Countries With Large Numbers of Overweight Adults Experience Much Higher COVID-19 Death Rates
The World Obesity Forum released new data showing that countries where more than 50% of adults are overweight have 10 times higher COVID-19 death rates than nations in which more than 50% of adults are not overweight. Of the 2.5 million deaths due to COVID-19 illness across the globe, 2.2 million occurred in nations with a highly overweight population. This is not good news for the United States in which 75% of the adult population is overweight or obese.
