
Pfizer Says Booster Shot Against COVID-19 Variants Is in Development
As new, more infectious variants to the novel coronavirus spread across the world, Pfizer, in collaboration with its partner BioNTech, is developing a booster shot that would offer protection against new strains that may evolve. The company asserts that its two-dose vaccine provides immunity to currently circulating variants of SARS-CoV-2, but wants to be prepared should the level of immunity provided begin to diminish. Moderna is also working on a booster to its two-dose vaccine after preliminary data show the immunity provided is reduced in the presence of the South African variation of the novel coronavirus.
