NIH Devotes Millions to COVID-19 Testing and Tracking
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is pouring more than $107 million into new and innovative solutions to COVID-19 testing and tracking. The funds will support the development of a new platform that can be used during the novel coronavirus pandemic and in any future infectious disease outbreaks. Viral screening processes that identify biological or physiological markers, rapid testing methods, and point–of-care and at-home testing strategies are included in the 49 projects across 43 institutions throughout the United States. The funding is part of the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) initiative, which was started in April 2020 to address the significant need for more COVID-19 testing methods. Read more here.
