DentaQuest Asks States to Allow Dental Professionals to Give COVID-19 Vaccines

The DentaQuest Partnership for Oral Health Advancement—a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the systemic health of all Americans through better oral health—is urging states to allow dentists and dental hygienists to administer COVID-19 vaccinations once they become available. With many patients visiting their oral health professional more frequently than their medical provider, the organization asserts that dentists and dental hygienists can serve as important resources for the widespread distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations during the global pandemic. With the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines currently undergoing review for emergency use authorization by the United States Food and Drug Administration, states are charged with providing distribution plans for both immunizations.
