Will Employers Mandate a COVID-19 Vaccination?
With the release of two COVID-19 vaccinations—one from Pfizer and one from Moderna—right around the corner, some employers are considering requiring their employees to be immunized as soon as the vaccine is widely available. Employers are allowed to mandate the flu vaccine, per the United States Occupational Health and Safety Administration, but employees can apply for a religious or medical exemption. Employers, such as food and agriculture processors and manufacturers, are thought to be considering such a mandate as many experienced large outbreaks of COVID-19 at the start of the pandemic. Vaccine hesitancy is widespread in the US, and a recent Gallup poll found that 42% of Americans won’t get a COVID-19 due to safety concerns. Read more here.
