COVID-19 Death Rates Drop Among Hospitalized Patients
Two peer-reviewed studies demonstrate a decrease in deaths among hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across the board, including older adults and those with comorbidities. One study looked at 5,000 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in New York City and noted a decrease in death rates from 25% to 7% from March to August. An English study also reported a decrease in mortality among 21,000 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 from March to June. The decrease was significant: 20 percentage points. These drops suggest that treatments for the novel coronavirus have improved and transmission reduction methods have become more widely implemented. Click here to read more.
