Thinking of Breaking Quarantine Rules? It Will Cost You
As countries across the globe—including the United States—struggle to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, many have instituted quarantine regulations to prevent visitors from bringing in the virus. And some of these regulations have teeth. A Kentucky man was arrested for breaking Canada’s quarantine rules (the border is currently closed to Americans), and he now faces 6 months in jail or a $569,000 fine. A woman from the Philippines has been arrested for refusing to follow Hawaii’s 14-day quarantine regulation, and a Florida couple who tested positive for COVID-19 were arrested when they refused to self-quarantine.
