Can Antibody-Delivering Drugs Prevent COVID-19 or Hasten Recovery?
The administration of intravenous drugs containing antibodies to the novel coronavirus may be effective in preventing COVID-19 among those at highest risk, such as medical and dental professionals, as well as reducing recovery time and disease severity in those who come down with the infection. In the absence of a vaccine, which would help the body create its own antibodies in response to SARS-CoV-2 exposure, infusion of such antibodies may provide temporary protection from the virus for at least a month.
