With approximately 3,500 cases of COVID-19 and 34 fatalities in the state of Utah, Governor Gary Herbert announced on April 22 that dental practices and medical facilities performing elective procedures are free to reopen. The state has introduced a voluntary smart phone app, Healthy Together, which is designed to help people determine whether they have been in contact with anyone who subsequently develops COVID-19. New guidelines for opening dental and medical practices include the taking of each patient’s temperature, limit of one visitor with each patient, wearing of masks by all those present, and removal of literature in the waiting room.
