Although the evidence supporting their efficacy for periodontics and implantology is mixed, lasers are increasingly being used in these therapies.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss how lasers work and how they are used in periodontics and implantology.
  2. Identify the characteristics of CO2, argon, Nd:YAG, erbium, and diode lasers.
  3. Explain the safety protocols required during laser use.
