Fernando J. Haddock, DDS, is an assistant professor in the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville. Prior to joining academia, Haddock, who is an author and diplomate of the American Association of Dental Consultants, was in private practice for 20 years. Dolores M. Alford, PhD, RN, FAAN, is a retired clinical specialist in gerontological nursing. Her 63-year career in nursing included being a professor, primary care nurse, and expert witness/consultant in legal matters pertaining to the abuse and neglect of older adults. Alford’s largest client was the U.S. Department of Justice, for which she helped to restore the civil rights of abused and neglected institutionalized elders. She has published more than 120 articles, contributed to four textbooks, and wrote Caring for the Individual Patient: A Student-Centered, Patient-Centered Approach to Fundamentals of Nursing. In 2016, the Texas Nurses Association honored Alford as a Legend of Texas Nursing.
