After reading this course, the participant should be able to:
- Explain the pathophysiology, risk factors, and clinical manifestations of infective endocarditis.
- Identify the current American Heart Association and European Society of Cardiology guidelines for antibiotic prophylaxis related to dental procedures.
- Describe the role of oral health maintenance in reducing the risk of infective endocarditis, especially in high-risk patients.
