As more states legalize some form of cannabis, clinicians need to be knowledgeable about its use, effects on health, and considerations for clinical practice.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss the legal status of marijuana use across the United States.
  2. List the types of cannabis and methods of use.
  3. Identify the adverse effects of cannabis use on systemic health and oral health.
  4. Explain the implications of obtaining consent for care in patients who use marijuana.
