The expansion of Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program has improved the utilization of dental care in the pediatric population, yet disparities remain.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After reading this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify the federal laws designed to improve access to oral health care for children.
  2. Define early childhood caries (ECC).
  3. Discuss the evidence-based recommendations for treating ECC.
  4. Explain the impact of public programs on the prevalence of ECC.
