William F. Wathen, DMD, is a former editor in chief of the Journal of the American Dental Association, and an adjunct professor in the Department of General Dentistry at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. He completed a U.S. Air Force dental internship in 1968 and entered private general practice in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1970. Retired from active practice, Wathen teaches a web-based course about the psychosocial aspects of dental practice called “Dental Crossroads — Secrets of Success in Practice.” The course is designed to help dental teams build, implement and maintain patient-centered, wellness-oriented practice philosophies.
