The FDI World Dental Federation has released a report calling for patient-centered solutions to improve endodontic outcomes. The “White Paper on Endodontic Care” (available at fdiworlddental.org) was published as part of FDI’s Endodontics in General Practice Initiative. Supported by Dentsply Sirona, the initiative seeks to provide guidance to general dentists on the provision of optimal endodontic care.
The paper suggests today’s endodontic therapy should address a broader set of outcomes that directly affect patients and providers, including prevention strategies. In addition to providing treatment guidelines and reimbursement models, the document defines the global burden of endodontic disease, proposes solutions to challenges, and issues a call to action for policymakers to improve systems for endodontic care.
